Frequently asked questions
What are Nouveau Lashes?
Nouveau eyelash extensions are an exciting and innovative treatment which give thicker, longer and natural looking eyelashes. They are not false lashes or “individual lashes” (this was a name given to a product with three or more artificial lashes in clumps that are squeezed onto the client’s own lash) but are monofilament synthetic fibres perfectly shaped like a lash, which are bonded with a specially developed adhesive.
Do Nouveau Lashes damage the natural lash?
No. Nouveau Lashes do not damage the natural lashes as long as the aftercare instructions are followed. The natural lash will not be damaged unless they are pulled out deliberately with Nouveau Lashes attached to them, in which case the natural lash will be replaced by a new one in due course
What is the difference between Nouveau Lashes and false lashes?
Designed to thicken and lengthen your natural eyelashes, Nouveau Lashes are nothing like traditional “false lashes”, which are usually in a self adhesive strip form and are stuck to your eyelashes with self adhesive and last just a few days. Nouveau Lash extensions are individual and can last up to 2 months depending on the life cycle of your natural lashes. They are manufactured to accurately imitate natural lashes.
How do Nouveau Lashes work?
Nouveau Lash extensions are a professional product made of a soft and naturally curved synthetic material designed to bond to the human lashes using a specifically formulated bonding adhesive that created a permanent bond. This adhesive is still slightly flexible when dried and causes absolutely no damage to your natural eyelash. One Nouveau Lash extension is applied directly to your own lash in a specific sequence to avoid incorrect bonding to adjacent lashes. This process is repeated until you have a full set of Nouveau eyelash extensions, creating the illusion of fuller, thicker and more defined lashes.
Is the Nouveau Lashes application painful and how long will it take?
Nouveau Lashes applications are not at all painful. In fact it is a completely relaxing procedure. A full application of Nouveau Lashes will take between 1 and 2 hours, depending on the look you want to achieve. Maintenance procedure take 30 – 45 mins.
Are Nouveau Lashes suitable for everyone?
No, Nouveau Lashes are not suitable for everyone. Nouveau Lashes are an extension of an existing eyelash so it is not possible to apply them to clients with alopecia for example as they often have no lashes. Additionally, clients with brittle or fine eyelashes may not be able to enjoy the benefits of the treatment. Excessively oily lashes can prevent correct bonding. If the lashes grow downwards obscuring the eyes then the treatment will obscure the eyes even more. Eye disorders, such as any infections, will prevent application of Nouveau Lashes.
How do I maintain my Nouveau Lash extensions?
Like your nails and the hair on your head, your individual eyelashes grow out on a continuous cycle of replenishment. The difference is that when lashes reach a certain age, they drop out. While some eyelash extensions may last as long as 2 months, to maintain thickness and fullness and for best results, we recommend that you have an infill procedure about every 2 -3 weeks. To prolong the life of the Nouveau Lash extensions we also recommend the use of Max 2 Coating Sealant that has a Teflon coating to protect the seal and bond the adhesive. If used every day it will help maintain flexibility. Eyelash conditioner is also recommended as it provided essential nutrients to hair follicles and conditions the lash whilst the extension is growing. Would you use a shampoo without conditioner?
Is Nouveau Lashes adhesive safe?
Nouveau Lashes adhesive does not contain contaminants such as formaldehyde, which emit a noxious vapour that cause irritation or permanent damage to the cornea. There are so-called lash adhesives on the market which are simply rebottled “superglue” the vapour of which could cause immediate corneal failure. Nouveau Lashes adhesive it perfectly safe with correct application of the extensions.
Will the adhesive cause irritation?
No, the adhesive will only come in contact with the eyelash to be extended and therefore causes no irritation whatsoever.
Can Nouveau Lashes be applied on tinted or permed lashes?
Nouveau Lashes can be applied to tinted lashes. Permed lashes normally have a strong curl to them so it is difficult to achieve perfect bonding, so it isn’t advised.
Can I perm of curl the Nouveau Lash extensions?
You won’t need to anyway, but no as this will break the bonds.
Can I remove the lashes or do they have to be professionally removed?
Under no circumstances should you remove your own lashes! They will fall out naturally over the course of time, but should you require them removing then this should be undertaken professionally.
